Local Community Missions
We believe that missions support begins right in our back yard. Over the years, we have established several local ministries that help to spread the love and word of our Lord, Jesus Christ all over our community. We maintain a downtown street outreach program designed to identify and assist homeless individuals who live within the downtown sector. Our missionaries provide peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, personal health and hygiene items and a word of encouragement to these unfortunate neighbors. Our food pantry works in conjunction with the department of family services in providing emergency food supplies to families in emergency situations. Families are sent to us by the state and local family services offices with vouchers for an emergency supply of food and other life necessities. We are constantly in search of volunteers to help staff the pantry. Our hours are Monday – Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Call the church office for information on scheduling. We are also in constant need of non-perishable food items (especially peanut butter) and toiletry items. Please feel free to bring any donations to the food pantry, located in Room 301 during normal business hours. Our church also hosts a chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous to provide support and comfort to members of our community afflicted with the terrible illness of alcoholism. We provide the facilities along with light snacks for the group that meets every Thursday evening at 7 pm in the Community Room. The Head Start program operates classes in our Christian Education Center during the week. Over 100 students and 8 staff members from the federal program call our church home for their regular classes. We are an active church totally committed to and involved in our community. We invite you to become part of our important work.
